A pig is any of the mammals in the Sus genus, which belongs to the Suidae family of even-toed ungulates. Any food resource is available to the wild boar (Sus scrofa). As a result, they may survive in almost any fertile environment that has adequate water to support large animals like pigs. Increased foraging by wild boars in particular locations might result in a nutritional deficit, causing the pig population to decline. The pig population will most likely expand if the nutritional situation returns to normal, due to the pigs’ naturally increasing reproductive rate.

Pigs are omnivores, meaning they eat both plant and animal matter. They are foraging creatures in the wild, consuming mostly leaves, roots, fruits, and flowers, as well as insects and fish. Pigs are given a diet consisting primarily of maize and soybean meal, with vitamins and minerals supplemented.

The water consumption of older pigs ranges from three to five liters per day.
